A loan of $1,075 helped to buy cereals.

Issa's story

Issa was born in around 1970 in Nimporodioula, and is married and the father of 11. He lives at home with his wife in a traditional household in Médine, a working-class neighbourhood in the city of Sikasso (in the 3rd administrative region of Mali).

Issa has been buying and selling cereals for more than 16 years and buys his supplies in the village markets around Sikasso.

Issa is requesting his ninth loan with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution in order to satisfy growing customer demand. He has repaid all the previous loans successfully.

This loan will help Issa buy 40 100-kg sacks of cereals. He then keeps the cereals in his store at home before reselling them. He sells his cereals at the market to a customer base that includes both men and women.

Issa hopes to make an average of 100,000 CFA francs a month. This will allow him to pay off the loan and interest, and the remainder will be reinvested in his business.
