A loan of $900 helped to buy Guinea pigs.

Santos's story

Santos was born in the city of Paucartambo. This city is known for having beautiful landscapes and for being the most “folk” city in the Cusco department. Most of the residents raise livestock and farm. The Virgin [Mary] of Carmen festival is celebrated in July and people come from different parts of Peru for this three-day festival.

Santos farms and raises small animals year round and has several farm plots and livestock, including cows, sheep, chickens, and Guinea pigs. He is one of the founders of the “Nuevo Amanecer” communal bank and has been involved for some years. There are no permanent financial entities in this town, such as Asociación Arariwa, but he has been borrowing money for several years. He needs this loan to buy small animals such as Guinea pigs. Santos is grateful for the support and is committed to being responsible and on time with his payments.
