A loan of $5,975 helped a member to purchase wholesale cleaning products to sell.

Roca Fuerte Group's story

The communal bank "ROCA FUERTE" ["Strong Rock"] begins their tenth cycle in ProMujer as part of the Santiago II regional center. The group consists of nine members headed by a board of which Patricia is President. Businesses that the members of this communal bank have are varied and include selling freeze-dried potatoes, sewing skirts, selling clothing, selling fruit, selling food, manufacturing stuffed animals, and selling quilts.

This loan will benefit a small entrepreneur like Patricia. She began working with ProMujer a year ago, entering on the invitation from a promoter of the institution who visited her home. Today, she has a business selling cleaning materials. She reports that she began this business several years ago on her own initiative upon observing that these items are commonly sold in the market.

This loan will provide an increase in working capital to buy wholesale cleaning materials in the shops of El Alto which will later be sold in her own retail space. This manner of working allows her to generate resources to support her family as she is a single mother of 4 children.

When asked what she likes about ProMujer, she says that she likes the meetings of the group to make payments and to learn. She can visit the office to meet up with her friends.

In this group: Patricia Irene, Perfecta, Carla Jimena, Yessica Mercedes, Cecilia , Elizabeth Yola, Ayde , Nilzabeth Benita, Paula
