A loan of $5,325 helped a member to buy fabric wholesale.

Quipus Group's story

The QUIPUS Communal Bank will start its 25th cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Juan Pablo II Centre. It is made up of nine members and is directed by a board of directors where Sonia serves as president. The members’ businesses include: clothing sales, party favor sales, fruit sales, installing electrical systems, embroidery, cosmetic sales, food sales and car parts sales.

This loan will help their small businesses, including Sonia's. She says that 18 years ago she joined Pro Mujer, joining by invitation of a friend who was a member of the institution. Now she has an embroidery workshop, she says that she learnt this trade from a previous job, where she picked up the tools of the trade.

She will use the money from this loan as working capital to buy fabric wholesale, which she will get in the fairs on the Bolivia-Peru border, and after creating products she will sell them in her sales space. This kind of work allows her to make the income to support her family, as she is married and has two children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replies that she likes the training and the loans that the institution offers and the friends from her bank.

In the photo, we can verify that one member is absent, as she had to go to her business urgently.
