A loan of $11,775 helped to purchase supplies so that he can build new machines and expand his welding workshop.

Emmanuel's story

Emmanuel is 30 years old. Despite dropping out of school at a tender age of 11 because he couldn't pay his school fees, he has gone on to make a name for himself in Rwanda’s welding industry.

Today, he is one of the most sought-after fabricators in the country. On top of owning a metal fabrication company, he also designs different equipment and trains youths in the trade. In 2013, he won the "Innovator of the Year" award in his district and several other distinctions from his province. In addition, he has been recognized at several regional and national exhibitions.

Emmanuel is a born engineer and entrepreneur. He built his business, Kabarore Welders Workshop, from the ground up, and now he is ready to expand. Like most entrepreneurs in Rwanda, Emmanuel cannot access commercial finance because his business is too young and he doesn't have the necessary collateral. With a loan from Kiva, Emmanuel will be able to leverage his recent success and publicity to expand his business even more. AEC is pleased to support Emmanuel's efforts, as he is one of our top entrepreneurs.
