A loan of $1,925 helped a member to buy firewood.

Benkady Group's story

Benkady is a group of women from Hamdallaye, a neighborhood in Koutiala. They live in large traditional families with their husbands, children, and other relatives. They average 43 years of age and have at least 5 children.

They sell various products, such as firewood, charcoal, condiments, vegetables, fruits, fabrics, etc. To bolster their businesses, the members of the group decided to join the loan program from Soro Yiriwaso. They are seeking their fifth group loan.

Massan is the woman on the right in the photograph. She sells firewood. She intends to use her loan to buy firewood. She gets her wood supplies in the villages surrounding Koutiala, and sells it at her home, to a diverse clientele.

Whereas the other members of Benkady Group intend to turn an average monthly profit of XOF 160'000 during this loan cycle, Mrs. Massan intends to reach XOF 170'000.

In addition to repaying the loans, they will use part of their income to cover personal expenses and increase their working capital. They wish to reinforce their collaboration with Soro Yiriwaso, to avoid getting out of stock.
