A loan of $550 helped to buy ingredients for making "chicha de jora" and "clarito" (traditional Peruvian drinks).

Milagros Del Pilar's story

Milagros de Pilar is 19 years old and she lives with her husband and their daughter in Caserío de Cascarrillo, a rural area in the Buenos Aires district. The area's population mostly works in agriculture, commerce, and in raising animals. The region is located in Piura, on the northern coast of Peru.

She sells beer, "chica de jora" (a traditional Peruvian drink made from corn), and clarito ice cream (also made from corn). Her business is located in the back part of her home. She has asked for a loan of 1500 nuevos soles so that she can buy sacks of yellow corn and sugar in order to make her products. By doing this she can increase the quantity of her products and generate a higher income for her family.
