Sheku Sahr Boima's Group's story

Pictured above are teachers from a school in Kono, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org based in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, to request a loan of 4,500,000 SLL for the entire group. With the help of this loan, they will be able to buy or invest in things that their salaries alone don't cover. At the end of each month, these teachers will repay SMT from their monthly salaries. Their school’s bursar is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayment on behalf of these teachers.

Sheku, who is pictured on the left, is the featured leader of this group. Sheku lives in Koidu city. He is married to a housewife, and the couple has seven children. Four of his children attend school. Sheku has been a professional school teacher for 11 years now. He has requested this loan in order to buy materials like cement, iron corrugated zincs, etc., for the construction of a house.
