A loan of $1,000 helped working Capital.

Norah's story

Norah is married with two children. She lives in the Pugu area of Dar es Salaam. She keeps cows for milk production. She has employed two assistants to help with the cows. She supplies milk to various restaurants and nursery schools in the Ilala district of Dar es Salaam.

The place where she keeps the cows is very far from where she supplies the milk. She wants to buy two new bicycles and vessels that will facilitate the supply of milk.

Together with this business she grows vegetables which she sells to small retailers. Her businesses are symbiotic; the droppings from animals are used as manure for the vegetables. She wants to stock enough medicines to treat vegetables against micro organisms during the rainy season, which lasts up to June. Cows are also very vulnerable to diseases during the rainy season, so she needs to stock enough medicines. The two businesses need USD1000 as working capital.
