A loan of $1,700 helped a member to buy cereals.

Siguikame Group's story

The 4 members of the Siguikame group are married women with an average age of 46 and, on average, 4 children, most of whom live in traditional families in Siékourani, a village in the rural commune of Loulouni, part of the Sikasso region (3rd administrative region of Mali). They are on their 24th group loan from the MFI Soro Yiriwaso, in order to be able to satisfy their customer needs.

Korotoumou is the group representative who sells cereals. She is standing second from the right in the picture. She plans to use her loan to buy 18 100-kilo bags of cereals. She gets her supplies in Loulouni and the villages around Loulouni (town). She then stores her supplies in a large warehouse on her property before reselling it. She makes her sales, for cash or credit, from her home and at the market to a retail clientèle made up of men and women. She expects to make an average monthly profit of 50 000 francs, part of which will be used to repay the loan and part of which she will save.
