Kousar's Group
In this Group: Kousar, Anayat, Balqees
Kousar is a 45-year-old married woman. She has been living with her husband in the area of Lahore, Pakistan, and she is the mother of four children.

Kousar is doing embroidery work by hand at home and financially supporting her family. She belongs to a poor family. Her husband’s income is very poor so she decided to start embroidery work at home. She had been learning this art since her childhood and now she adopted it for her occupation. She enabled herself to be independent and earn sufficient income.

Kousar requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan to purchase a stock of thread, silk, fancy sequins and pearls of various colors. She hopes that this loan will prove beneficial for her and her family. Kousar is very thankful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
