Safia's Group
In this Group: Safia, Farzana
Safia is a 60-year-old woman. She lives in Taxila, Pakistan with her three children. One of her sons is a rickshaw driver by profession: he has been driving a rickshaw for many years. Safia is also providing sewing services and earns income to contribute, with her husband, to managing the household.

She is in need of different kinds of goods, for example needles, threads, pieces of cloth, machine oil, etc. for her business purposes, but due to insufficient financial means, she is unable to purchase these accessories. Therefore, Safia has applied for a Kiva loan from the field partner BRAC Pakistan. This loan will enable her to purchase these above accessories, and will also also help her to increase monthly sales and profit by providing better sewing services.

Safia is very thankful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
