Shri Lakkammadevi - Nandikeshwar Group's story

Shankaravva (the lady in extreme left & wearing green sari in the photo) aged 40 years, lives in Nandikeshwara, Bagalkot, Karnataka. She has 2 sons who are in school. Her husband runs a small business and she is a daily wage labor in agriculture fields and earns 100 Indian Rupees (INR) a day. Her family is traditionally into sheep & goat rearing. Hence she has good experience & is well aware of the activity.

Shankaravva has done schooling till second grade. By rearing more goats and sheep she wants to increase her family income and for that she needs a loan. Her dream is to uplift her family economically, give a good education to her children and support her husband.

She is the leader of "Shri Lakkammadevi" Joint Liability Group (JLG). In the group totally there are six members and all are doing coolie work as well as rearing goats and sheep.
