Fatmata's story

Meet 29-year-old Fatmata from Magburaka, Makeni in the Northern area in Sierra Leone. She is married and has two children. Some years ago, Fatmata established her retail business. She began her business because she wanted to create a means of survival. She works at the business 14 hours per day, 6 days per week. She says that sometimes business is very slow. Fatmata requires a loan in order to purchase cigarettes, drinks, and soap to expand her business. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to change her standard of living and increase her business. In the future, Fatmata plans to establish a big shop.
