A loan of $9,325 helped to pay higher education costs.

Sharleny's story

Sharleny is a young medicine school student and is asking for this loan to pay her tuition costs. This is her story: I am Sharleny, I am 25 years old and was born and raised in the Maria Auxiliadora sector of Santo Domingo, where my mother currently lives.

I am a single mother and I currently do not receive income for health problems. The income that we receive in my home comes from my three older brothers who have formed their own families.

The income that my mother and I receive is insufficient to finish my degree in medicine, which I have already started at the Technological Institute of Santa Domingo. I only have eight more trimesters left to finish my studies. I don’t see myself doing anything in my life other than tending to patients and salving lives because studying medicine means helping others and contributing to society using my knowledge and my hands as instruments of good. I will contribute what I can to be both professional and caring.

Receiving this loan is a huge opportunity for me because if I do not get it I will have no way to finish my medicine degree, which has been my dream since I was little. Finishing my studies can also help out my mother.
