A loan of $650 helped to buy cereals for resale.

Soumaila's story

Soumaila was born around 1971 in Sikoro, Kadiana commune, one of the sub-prefectures of the third administrative region of Mali. He has two wives and six children, and lives in a nuclear family in Sikoro. He began earning money at a young age, by buying and selling cereals and various items in his shop in Sikoro.

Soumaila has fifteen years' experience in his business and has decided to work with the field partner, Soro Yiriwaso, in order to increase his working capital. This will enable him to satisfy the increasing demands of his customers. Soumaila will use this, his first loan, to buy ten sacks of maize, ten sacks of millet and three sacks of sorghum from Sikoro and the surrounding area. He sells to various customers for cash or credit at the market or at home.

Soumaila hopes to earn 40,000 francs CFA a month, and will use this to repay his loan, reinvest in his business and provide for the needs of his family.
