A loan of $750 helped to buy motor parts for retail, fowls, feed and medication.

Odilia's story

Odilla is married and a mother of five children. She lives with her family in a two-bedroom house in Bamenda Mezam Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. She has faced so many challenges in life, among which are the death of her elder brother, after she had spent much money in the hospital for medication and hospital bills, an untimely death in her family, inadequate finances to effectively carry out her business, and an accident that led to the death of her junior brother.

She has taken and repaid her loans successfully four times and says with this new loan requested that she will expand her spare part store by buying more parts from Douala and Nigeria. She will also buy feed and medication for her fowls. She holds a positive view of this business succeeding because she has been doing it for long. She is a trustworthy person who controls the store. Her business is situated at a strategic point and she has regular customers who buy from her store for resale. With this business activity, the community will have reliable parts for their vehicles at cheaper rates, and the parts obtained from her stores are installed in the customer’s vehicle without the payment of installation fees.

With the profit from this loan, she will cater for her children’s education, complete her house under construction, and expand her business by adding other items she can’t afford now. She prefers GHAPE loans because of low interest rates, convenient repayment intervals, and the social nets in the organization among members.
