13 De Mayo S.b. Group's story

Jose is 43 years old, married and has two children. He lives in a village in Nuevo Celilac, in Santa Bárbara. Jose has always made a living growing basic grains. For 15 years he has been growing coffee which he sells with the husks on to local markets. Jose is applying for his sixth loan - as part of a group -for 25,000 Lempira in order to buy fertilisers and to keep his coffee farm clean, and provide shade in order to have a better harvest. Jose's future plan is to expand his coffee plantation and give his family the best he possibly can.

Jose is a member of the "13 de Mayo SB" group. This group has four members, all of whom live in the same area and make a living growing coffee and basic grains. The total group loan is for 70,000 Lempira and will be used to look after coffee plantations. In the photo, In the photo, from left to right, are Jose, Juan, Dionisio and Joel.
