Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Saleema's story

Saleema is a 33-year-old married woman. She has been successfully running a small general store with her husband (also shown in the photo) at the corner of her house. Her husband also assists her by purchasing stock of goods from the market and dealing with customers by sitting at the shop.

Over the time they have become popular in their community for providing good quality products and make enough to meet their household expenses. Currently, she has requested a loan of PKR 40,000 to buy packs of salts, biscuits and beverages to meet the increasing demand at their store. She is expecting a boost in her earnings and dreams of expanding her business in the future. She is in her 3rd loan cycle with good credit history.
