Assitan's story

Mrs Assitan is 56 years old, married, and the mother of 7 children. She lives in a polygamous family with her husband in the Sogomougou neighborhood in the city of Koutiala. For the last 20 years, she has been involved in the purchase and sale of condiments, peanuts and soaps. This activity generates enough revenue, and she has a number of clients every day. In order to better satisfy her clientele and in order to expand her business, Assitan is asking the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso for her tenth loan. She plans to use this loan to puchase two boxes of condiments, four bags of peanuts and three bags of soaps made from a traditional manner.
She stocks up on products in Koutiala and sells them from her home as well as in the large market for cash, to a customer base of women. She hopes that the increase in her activity level will enable her to earn monthly profit of 40 000 FCFA, which she will use to reimburse the loan, satisfy her personal needs and reinvest in her business.
