Cynthia's story

Cynthia is a 20-year-old business woman living in Chikomba West District, Zimbabwe. She volunteers as a Camfed Learner Guide working with students at local schools to help improve their learning skills using cooperative learning study groups. Additionally, she offers psycho-social support to young people in her community. As an entrepreneur, Cynthia rents a table at the local flea market where she sells products such as bags, shoes, jeans, shirts, skirts, track suits, and T-shirts. She has been running this business for one year and it has enabled her to support her family.

With the Kiva loan, Cynthia will purchase bags, shoes, jeans, shirts, skirts, track suits, and T-shirts to increase the amount of items she can sell. Her hope is to grow the business and open her own store. This will enable her to secure her further education as well as provide for her family’s basic needs.
