A loan of $500 helped to buy more goods for her stock.

Emily's story

Emily is a 34-year-old woman with three children living in Chikomba West District in Zimbabwe where she provides counseling services to young people facing challenges at a local community centre as well as assisting the elderly in her community. She currently operates a mobile grocery business where she sells food items such as cooking oil, sugar, salt, mealie-meal, sugar beans, dried fish, biscuits, sweets and other snacks. Young girls in her community remark that they are inspired by Emily, who has shown that women can run their own businesses.

Emily will use the Kiva loan to expand her mobile grocery business by increasing her stock. She believes that with the additional stock, she will greatly increase her profits and give her the financial freedom to support her children and vulnerable children in the community.
