A loan of $2,000 helped to purchase three head of cattle of a good breed to start a business in animal husbandry.

Shahodat's story

Shahodat, at 66 years old, is an elderly resident of Spitamen. She worked for many years as a middle school teacher. In her village she is respected by all for her wisdom and prudence. She always provides anyone who turns to her for assistance with her sage advice. Now, in her later years, Shahodat has decided to provide for herself by working. She is interested in raising and selling cattle. She will not have trouble with feed because her family rents a plot of land, on which they grow grain and corn. Shahodat already has a barn and feed for cattle (hay, straw, and corn), which will serve as starting capital. She is asking for a loan of 2000 American dollars in order to purchase three head of cattle of a good breed. Shahodat believes that her age will not interfere, and that she will be given a chance to prove herself in this new venture.
