A loan of $700 helped to buy laminate and boards to renovate the roof of his house.

Salomón's story

Salomón is 44 years old and studied until Grade 5. He comments that it was very difficult to study as the financial conditions of his family at the time were not very good. He could not continue studying to get ahead in life. He is married. His wife does the housework and takes care of the 3 children aged, 9, 14 and 17, who are actually studying in school. He lives in his house with his wife and children only and they are the only people dependent on him. Salomón is a farmer who grows basic grains (corn and beans). He was taught this at a very young age by his parents as it was the only form of work and income available at that time. So he became a farmer. Besides farming he raises livestock buying and selling cattle which is another source of revenue for the family. He has to walk 30 minutes to get to where he farms. He has the help of his children and wife to do the farming tasks. Salomón will use the money from the loan to renovate his house, specifically the roof of his house. It is no longer in adequate condition to live under and with winter on it's way he is afraid that his possessions will get wet. He will purchase laminate and boards. This is a small project that he and his wife have to improve their house and allow them to have a higher quality of living, more secure and comfortable. Salomón in the future wants to have a higher quality of living for his family, to live in a comfortable place and be able to renovate his house. He wants his children to continue to study so that one day they become professionals, finish their studies and their university life. All this he wants to accomplish with a lot of work and dedication together with his wife.
