A loan of $425 helped a member to buy cups.

Sabaly Group's story

Group Sabaly’s four members are married women, who are on average 30 years old with five children. Most of them live in traditional families in Hamdallaye, one of the popular neighborhoods of the city of Sikasso, in the third administrative region of Mali.

To meet their customers’ demand, they are on their fifth loan with microfinance organization Soro Yiriwaso. In this group of women, Mrs. Sanata retails cups. She is in the second position from the right to the left in the photo.

With her loan, she is planning on purchasing ten boxes of six individual cups. She stocks up in Sikasso. She retails from home and at the market, to a mixed-gender clientele. She takes cash and grants credits.

She expects an average monthly profit of 20,000 XOF; part of it will be used to pay back her loan, with the rest going to her savings.

In this group: Haby, Sanata, Kadiatou, Adiaratou
