Daniel Michael's Group's story

Pictured here are teachers of a primary school located in Kalangba, a village in northern Sierra Leone. This group of able and dedicated school teachers have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, to apply for a loan of 19,500,000 Sierra Leonean Leones (SLL) for the entire team in order to meet their most immediate and most pressing financial needs. At the end of each month, they can easily repay the loan, using their monthly salaries. It is their school's bursar who is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf.

Daniel is the featured leader of this group. The 59-year-old is a native of Kalangba, in northern Sierra Leones.
