Tiessiri Group's story

The members of the group TIESSIRI are married women, who average 27 years of age and two children each, all living in polygamous families in FAKOLA, a sub-prefecture in the 3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali.

The women are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their work anytime soon. They are on their first loan with the institution and do intend to pay it back.

Ms. MARAMOU (first person at the right in the photo) intends to use her loan to purchase 2 sacks of atiéké [fermented cassava couscous] and 10 kg of meat for her restaurant business. Each day, she makes her sales at the FAKOLA market and is much in demand, especially during fairs. She gets her supplies in FAKOLA.

She accepts cash from a mixed customer base. She plans on making an average monthly profit of 22,000 francs CFA. This profit will enable her to pay back the loan and also to help out her husband in covering day-to-day expenses.
