A loan of $825 helped purchase materials.

María Del Carmen's story

Carmen started the business due to the necessity of having an income in addition to that of her husband that would allow them to give a better quality of life to their children. She started in 2002 when a friend made her some decorations for one of her children’s birthday party and asked her if she was interested in making them. Her friend explained how and she began to make Christmas bags and ornaments. Later she began to make wooden figurines and small boxes with the help of her father who is a carpenter. Since then she has done very well because shools order from her, especially during holiday times like Christmas, Mother’s Day, Children’s Day, etc.

In 2006 she received her first loan from Kiva and since then she has maintained her business and her clientele has grown. She needs a loan for US$825 that she will repay in six month to buy materials that will allow her to fill her client’s orders and continue to give them good service.
