Doña Hilda is 44 years old. Thanks to her first loan, she was able to support the cultivation of her coffee. She was able to buy coffee formula, growth formula, and urea, among other things that helped to protect her crop. As a result she produced good coffee beans that she could then sell to make a profit. Thanks to this she was able to sell a portion of the beans to the different buyers and middlemen in the area and completely repay her loan. She is grateful for the support offered by the many lenders on the Kiva platform that is in partnership with the COMIXMUL cooperative.

Doña Hilda is again requesting a second loan that she will use to buy fertilizers and pay for manual labor to clear her property and the crops. This is necessary because after the plants are cut the property is left with the deteriorating crop, which makes it necessary to attend to it so as to be able to harvest an excellent crop this season.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
