Elsa's story

Elsa is 27 years old, married and the mother of 3 children (two boys, ages 8 and 4 and a girl, age 6). She studied through the second year of high school and she lives in Jr. Puno s/n, district of Mazocruz, province of Collao, Puno Three years ago she was invited to a meeting of the community bank "Generation 2000" in Mazocruz, where she learned about loans and decided to join the community group. With her first loan of 300 Nuevos Soles she increased her capital and bought clothing for children and babies in order to market it in the city of Mazocruz. Elsa started her home when she was 19 years old, beginning with selling fruit, vegetables, food, and in this way she accumulated capital. She changed her business last year and now she buys and sells the meat of alpaca, llama, and sheep, and also buys and sells sheep's wool, alpaca and llama fiber and additionally she has a small grocery store. With the loan of 2,300 Nuevos Soles, which will be paid in 4 months, she will buy meat, sheep's wool, fiber of alpaca and llama to sell to the wholesalers of the city of Tacna. Her greatest dream is that her children will study and not fall behind. Elsa couldn't continue her studies because her parents separated when she was just 9 years old along with her younger brother. Her father supported them when he could, and thanks to God now her younger brother works outside the country.
