A loan of $525 helped purchase 7 alpacas.

Dolores's story

Dolores is 38 years old, studied up to fourth grade, lives with her common-law husband and is the mother of six children (one is married and five are minors). She lives on Jr. Tupac Amaru, in the district of Mazocruz, province of El Collao, Puno.

Because she needed capital, she decided to join the "Generación 2000" Communal Bank in Mazocruz. Since that time she has been selling meals and with her first loan was able to buy potatoes, vegetables, meat, etc.

Dolores´s mother died when she was 6 years old and she was raised by her father. When she was 15 she went to the city of Arica to work. When she was 20 she began living with her husband and began selling meals and fruit juices. She also bought slaughtered meat which she sold by the kilo in the market at Mazocruz. Once she had enough money saved, she started selling ice cream, which she continues doing today.

With this loan for S/.1,500 nuevos soles, which will be repaid in 4 installments, she will buy 7 alpacas in order to sell the meat both wholesale and retail.

Her dream is to buy a house in the city of Tacna and that her children study.
