A loan of $900 helped to buy sacks of corn, sugar, and oil.

Lilia Lorena's story

Lilia Lorena is 37 years old and lives with her husband in the village of Laynas. This rural area is in the District of Matanza and is a community dedicated to agriculture, trade, and livestock breeding. It is situated in Morropon Province in the region of Piura, which is in the northern mountains of Peru.

Lilia sells beer, “chicha” (a traditional beverage made from corn), as well as dishes that she prepares herself. She has been doing this for 10 years. Lilia is requesting a loan in the amount of 2,500 PEN so that she can buy sacks of corn, sugar, and oil for preparing her dishes. Part of the loan will be used to buy additional corn, which is the primary ingredient used in making “chicha de jora”. All of this will enable her to serve her customers.
