A loan of $2,000 helped to pay for an ox and renovate his greenhouse.

Yeghnik's story

Yeghnik is from Margara village of the Armavir region. He is a constructor by profession and works as a seasonal migrant worker in a neighboring country. During the months when Yeghnik is in Armenia, he runs a farm. The farm includes 15 turkeys and 2 calves. He also owns a greenhouse where tomatoes and peppers are grown.

Yeghnik lives with his mother and brother. His mother is a teacher at the local village school and his brother serves in the army. Yeghnik works hard to successfully run the farm to ensure a stable income from it. Now, he asks for this loan of USD 2,000 to be able to purchase an ox and renovate his greenhouse.

As this is Yeghnik's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF. The first-chance loan program provides loans to people who do not have access to credit products in the past because they have no credit history.
