A loan of $3,000 helped to pay for six oxen and forage for the livestock.

Alisa's story

Alisa lives in Lernagog village with her 23-year-old son and 22-year-old daughter. Her husband is a migrant worker in a neighboring country and time to time, he financially supports his family.

Alisa herself has been involved in agriculture. Specifically, she keeps livestock which includes cows, sheep, pigs, piglets and chickens. Alisa's son helps her with the livestock and they work hard to earn enough income and sustain their living. Now, Alisa applied for this loan to be able to purchase six oxen and forage for the livestock. The loan will increase her livestock so she will be able to gather more agricultural income. Alisa hopes that lenders will support her loan of 3,000 USD. Alisa has taken a loan from local financial institutions before but because of difficult financial conditions, she wasn't able to pay it back on time. Now, she is sure that her agribusiness is successful enough to cover monthly payments, and Alisa has been approved for this loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF International. The second chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history and have no access to credit products.
