A loan of $3,075 helped a member buy plastic bags.

Cielito Lindo Group's story

The "Cielito Lindo" communal bank is getting its first loan from Pro Mujer as a part of the "Centro Focal de Alto Lima." It is made up of 8 members and is led by a board of directors where Soledad is the president. The businesses that the members of the communal bank run are varied and include selling socks, selling snacks, selling sweatshirts, selling tools, selling juice, making bags, making doors, and selling polleras (traditional skirts).

The loan that they will receive will benefit small businesses, including that of Soledad. She says that this is the first time that she has worked with Pro Mujer and that she became involved with it after her cousin (who is a member) invited her. She has a business selling plastic bags. She started this business after observing that this is one of the most sold goods in the local market. It is for this reason that she used her scant resources to start this business.

The loan that she is asking for is so she can increase her capital and buy plastic bags. She will get them from the La Paz factories and then sell them according to her customers' demand. This type of work allows her to earn money so she can support her family (she is single and has two children).

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the health aspect, the training, and the loans that the group offers.

In this group: Soledad, Lizet Fabiola, Vladimir, Flora, Rufina , Rosalia, Vaneza, Virginia
