A loan helped to buy herbal medicines.


Kounain Ali Shah's story

Kounain Ali Shah is 35 years old and lives in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He is religious, sympathetic, honest and a hard worker. He has been running a small herbal shop in a nearby town to the help the poor people. He wants to help poor people, which is the reason he decided to open an herbal medicine shop in a poor society. Such poor people do not have the power to afford allopathic medicine. He can treat minor diseases at very low service charges and he provides herbal medicines according to his experience. In this way, he gets some income to run his house as well.

He is very famous in his area due to his kindness. This is why the demand for herbal medicines has been increasing and why he needs to buy more herbal medicine to cope with the demand. He wants to buy herbal medicine in bulk but does not have enough capital to invest because he has to spend a large part of his savings for his household expenses.

Therefore, Kounain Ali Shah requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan. He hopes that the lenders will support him for his noble work.
