A loan of $3,000 helped to pay for forage for feeding her livestock.

Elena's story

Elena lives in Amrakic village with her husband and two children (a 17-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter). The family owns a farm. They keep cows, pigs, piglets, chickens, and colonies of bees. Near the house where the family lives, Elena also cultivates wheat, potatoes, and grass as forage for feeding the livestock. Elena uses the milk in cheese production and her husband sells it in Yerevan. By applying for this current loan, Elena would like to ask for financial support to be able to purchase forage for feeding the livestock. Elena has already taken out a loan from a local financial institution, but unfortunately wasn't able to repay it. However, thanks to her hard work during recent years, Elena and her husband were able to run their agribusiness in a sustainable way, ensuring that they will be able to cover monthly payments. So, she has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF International which provides a second-chance loan to people who have a bad credit history and no access to credit. The loan will be a huge support to this family to sustain their farm and they hope for your support.
