Danaya Group

The Danaya group is made up of married women with an average age of 38 and, on average, 5 children. They all live in traditional families in the town of Fana, Guegneka commune, Dioïla prefecture, Koulikoro region (second administrative district of the republic of Mali). They got to know each other via family and neighbourly relationships and friendships. They sell cereals, fabrics, charcoal and drinks. The women of the Danaya group are on their 9th group loan. They are turning to Soro Yiriwaso in order to be able to satisfy their enormous customer demand.

Alimata, the woman sitting on the left, did not get an education. She has been selling drinks for 4 years. She plans to buy 12 cases of soft drinks from the wholesalers in Fana. She makes her sales for cash to retail customers in her small kiosk at the Dioïla crossroads. She expects to make a monthly profit of 20 000 francs which will be reinvested in the business.
Le groupe DANAYA est composé de femmes mariées elles ont en moyenne 38 ans et 5 enfants. Elles vivent toutes dans des familles traditionnelles dans la ville de Fana commune de GUEGNEKA préfecture de Dioila, Région de Koulikoro (deuxième région administrative de la République du Mali).
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Elles font le commerce de céréale, de tissus, de charbon et de boisson. Les femmes du groupe DANAYA sont à neuvième prêts solidaires. Dans le but de satisfaire la demande énormes de la clientèle, elles font recourt à SORO YIRIWASO.
La cliente ALIMATA la première personne à partir de la gauche dans le rang assise n’a pas été à l’école. Elle est actuellement vendeuse de boisson depuis 4 ans .Elle compte acheter avec 12 casiers de boissons non alcoolisées chez les grossistes à Fana. La vente se fait en détail et en espèce dans son muni alimentation sise au carrefour de Dioïla. Elle compte réaliser un bénéfice mensuel de 20.000CFA qui sera réinjecté dans l’activité.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
