Danaya Group's story

The Danaya group is made up of married women with an average age of 38 and, on average, 5 children. They all live in traditional families in the town of Fana, Guegneka commune, Dioïla prefecture, Koulikoro region (second administrative district of the republic of Mali). They got to know each other via family and neighbourly relationships and friendships. They sell cereals, fabrics, charcoal and drinks. The women of the Danaya group are on their 9th group loan. They are turning to Soro Yiriwaso in order to be able to satisfy their enormous customer demand.

Alimata, the woman sitting on the left, did not get an education. She has been selling drinks for 4 years. She plans to buy 12 cases of soft drinks from the wholesalers in Fana. She makes her sales for cash to retail customers in her small kiosk at the Dioïla crossroads. She expects to make a monthly profit of 20 000 francs which will be reinvested in the business.
