A loan of $525 helped a member to purchase grains.

Tiessiri Group's story

The group TIESSIRI is composed of married women, who average 38 years of age and 4 children each. The women all live in traditional families in the village of TIENCELA, in Commune de BENKO, Préfecture de Dioila, Région de Koulikoro (2nd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They know one another through ties of kinship, community, and friendship. They do commerce in condiments, milk, and incenses.

The women of the group TIESSIRI are on their third solidarity loan. For satisfying the enormous customer demand, they turn to the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso. The funds will be used to purchase their merchandise as cited above.

This client, ASSAN, the person standing in the middle, did not go to school. She is currently a vendor of grains. It is a business passed down to her by her father. She intends to purchase 4 sacks of corn locally from peasant farmers of the village and then to resell the goods. Sales are made retail to a mixed customer base at her home.

She plans on making a monthly profit of 20,000 francs CFA that will in part be reinvested in her business. The rest will be for small animal husbandry.
