A loan of $2,450 helped a member to purchase vegetables and flower plant for her business.

Maa Mahamayee Shg Group's story

Tikina is the leader of a group that hails from a small village in the Angul district of Odisha, India. She is a widowed woman of 38 years. She has a small family comprised of two members including one son aged 15 who is still in school. The member standing with her hand raised is Tikina.

Tikina, with the help of her son, has been doing a vegetable and flower selling business for the last 10 years. At present, her monthly family income is Rs 3,000 INR. But it is not sufficient to lead a better life. So she formed a self help group with nine other members in her locality and applied for loan. It is her first loan from People's Forum for the development of her business. With this loan, she will purchase vegetables in bulk and flower plant in a large quantity for the growth of her business.

Her future plan is to construct a house and to provide a higher education to son. She is very happy and thankful to Kiva's lenders for this support.
