A loan of $225 helped to fund the education of her daughter Sushama in grade 7.

Sushila's story

Sushila lives in Maynaguri with her husband and three children. She is illiterate but can sign her name. Her children are all students in different classes. Amongst them, her daughter Sushama is a good student and also very sincere about her studies. She is in Class 7 (grade 7). Both of her parents are struggling to run the family smoothly but they have failed because her father, being a farmer, has an inconsistent income. Her father is unable to cover all of their educational expenses.

Now Sushila heard about BJS (Kiva’s Partner) and applied for a loan to cover educational expenses such as school fees, books, pens, uniform, private tuition fees, etc., of her daughter Sushama. Sushila knows that if she gives some support to Sushama then she will progress to a further board exam. Sushila dreams of her daughter’s higher education in future so that she can take on the responsibility one day for household matters. She feels fully sure that with this loan she can give total support to her dedicated daughter Sushama in her school education.

Sushila and Sushama (as in the photo) are very much obliged to Kiva and BJS for this financial support.
