Emmanuel's Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org and based in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleases to present to you this group of teachers from a primary school in Kenema, eastern Sierra Leone. They have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to apply for a loan of 4,500,000.00 SLL in order to meet their most immediate financial challenges. Then at the end of each month, their school’s bursar will deduct their repayments and pay SMT/Kiva lenders on their behalf.

Emmanuel is the featured leader of this group of teachers. Born in Songo, the 47-year-old has been in the teaching profession for 17 years now. Emmanuel is married to a nurse and has two children who are attending primary and secondary schools. Emmanuel has applied for this loan in order to buy house building materials, such as iron corrugated sheets, sand, nails, cements, iron rods, etc. for the construction of a dwelling house for his family.
