A loan of $425 helped to purchase condiments.

Fatoumata's story

Born in 1967 in Mamoussa, Bougouni circle, Fatoumata lives in a nuclear family with her four children and her husband; they live in Ouelessebougou sub-prefecture (Koulikoro region of the Republic of Mali).

Early on, Fatoumata became interested in revenue-generating activities; she learned from her older sister, who was in the condiment trade. After years of experience working together, Fatoumata opted for the condiment business, buying and selling onions, ground nut butters, okras, tomatoes, mangoes, etc.

Fatoumata is on her first loan with Soro Yiriwaso. It will be used to purchase a large quantity of condiments from wholesalers in Bamako. She retails cash or credit, from home as well as in the market and local fairs; her clientele is mixed-gender.

Fatoumata hopes to make an average monthly profit of 50,000 XOF, which will be used to assist her husband in supporting the family, pay back the loan, and reinvest in her condiment business.
