A loan of $1,425 helped to buy animal feed and fertilizer.

Martha Del Carmen's story

The credit group Nueva Alianza meets every two weeks in the canton of Pichincha. This place is known for being very dynamic. Most of its residents work farming and raising animals because it has lots of vegetation and a big river runs through it, which makes it suitable for crops.

This is where Martha lives. She is 37 years old and married. She has three children form this relationship, who are ages sixteen, thirteen, and six. The two oldest are in high school and the youngest in elementary school. Her husband works with livestock.

Martha is a very good wife, and she is getting this loan for herself as well as for her husband's business in order for the family to get ahead. While she raises pigs and chickens, he works farming and raising livestock. He sells milk all over the city, as well as the cheeses that Martha makes. They also have many acres of corn planted, which is why they urgently need the loans.

She will use this loan to buy feed for the animals and fertilizer for the crops. She has been in her credit group for over twelve years and she enjoys it because of the help they offer through lending. Her dream is to give her children a good education.
