A loan of $775 helped to purchase pants, blouses, T-shirts and children's clothing.

Ramona Dolores's story

The Nueva Alianza Communal Bank meets every 15 days in Pichincha canton. This is known as a very dynamic place where a majority of the inhabitants farm and raise animals because the area has copious vegetation, split as it is by a large river that makes it favorable to crops. Sra. Ramona lives here. She is 32 years old and lives in a common-law relationship from which she has three children, who are 8, 5 and 1 years old. The older ones attend school. Her husband is a farmer. Doña Ramona is a very feisty woman who enjoys working to help her husband move the household ahead since he does not earn much in farm work. She sells all kinds of clothing, going door to door. She also sells from home to well known customers. She works every day, mainly in the mornings because her children are in school then and it is easier for her to leave the house and then return in time to help them with their school work. She has had this business for four years and she is making progress. She will use this loan to purchase more merchandise, such as pants, blouses, T-shirts and children’s clothing. She has been a member of this communal bank for four years and she likes it because the loans have enabled her to start her business and get ahead. Her dream is to provide the best for her children.
