Laidou Group's story

The Laidou group is made up of 4 married women with an average age of 26 and, on average, 3 children. They live in nuclear families in the district of Heremakono Nord in Bougouni town. They got to know each other via neighbourly relationships, friendships and business. They joined the Soro Yiriwaso MFI in order to strengthen their financial capacity so that they can better do business and are on their 8th loan. The previous loans have been properly repaid.

Kadia, the woman who is sitting in the picture, sells fruit and vegetables. She plans to use her loan to buy 70 bunches of plantains from the wholesalers in Bougouni. She makes her sales at the market and door-to-door for cash or credit to a varied retail clientèle. She expects to make an average monthly profit of 25 000 francs which she will reinvest in her business and use to repay the loan.
