A loan helped to buy fresh milk for producing yogurt, cheese and butter to sell.

Kashif's story

Kashif is 30 years old, married and an energetic man living with his spouse and two children in the area of Lahore, Pakistan.

He is a milkman by profession. He sells milk, yogurt, butter and buttermilk over a shop near his community and earns a reasonable income for his family. He has been purchasing milk from the market and selling it as a retailer over his shop. Now his customers are complaining about the freshness of his milk. He wants to buy fresh milk from wholesalers instead of from the market but their price is higher than the market rates. He does not have enough cash on hand to buy fresh milk and does not want to compromise the quality as well
Therefore, Kashif requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan to purchase fresh milk from the wholesalers to sell and to produce yogurt, cheese, butter and buttermilk. This is his second loan with Kiva. He has been using his previous loan to set up his milk shop, which worked positively. He hopes that this time the lenders will support him again and this loan will prove productive for his business as well.

He is very impressed with the Kiva loan cycle. He is thankful to the lenders because they provided a source of income for his family.
