A loan helped to pay for gas and repair his car.

Rafik's story

Rafik lives in Yerevan with his wife and two school age children (10 and 12 years old).

Rafik's wife is an accountant but works at the local school as a teacher because she isn't able to find a job as an accountant. Rafik is a taxi driver. He has driven a taxi using his own car for several years. During the summer, Rafik uses his car to sell fruits at nearby communities. He does his best to gather income and sustain his family's living.

The reason that Rafik has applied for this loan is the lack of financial resources. He isn't able to save money and purchase gas for his car. The car is also seriously damaged and it is very important for Rafik to repair it.

Rafik has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF International. The start-up loan program provides business start-up loans to informal businesses that do not have access to credit products.

The loan will greatly assist Rafik to repair his car and sustain his family's standard of living.
