La Alegria Group's story

La Alegria [Happiness] is a group which is now in its third cycle, thanks to the work of all of the members, who are women who are heads of their families. They strive to get ahead and help their loved ones through their work. Norma is the president of the group. She is an artisan, making all kinds of decorative items from recycled materials such as newspaper and wire. She lives in her own house with her husband, who drives a taxi truck. The couple has two children, for whose sake they are both working hard to get ahead in life. Norma requests this loan to spend on components for making her handicrafts so that she can have more customers and be able to continue growing.
