A loan of $1,500 helped buy ears of sweet corn, fertilizer, seed, and labor to plant his crop.

José Julio's story

José is 75 years old. He has four children who no longer live with him. He is dedicated to his work, and in spite of his age, he wants to work hard to help his wife, who is a homemaker. Their only income is from José growing and selling corn, which is how the family sustains itself.

He has several years of experience in growing corn and selling sweet corn. From growing corn, José also takes advantage of the leftovers to feed himself and his cattle. He will invest this loan in purchasing ears of sweet corn which he will later sell, and in cultivating 32 hectares of corn by purchasing fertilizer, seed, and labor.

He wants to expand his purchase and sales of sweet corn in order to learn a little more income. The loan will help him to grow corn and be able to sell sweet corn.
